An Empty Crowded Café: An Experimental Soundscape

This was written for the University subject, BCM115.

"I would like this café, but I can hear no-one else but me…"

In coming up with this soundscape, I turned to famous psychedelic rock band, Pink Floyd. Particularly, I took reference from the more experimental work of their albums such as in the critically acclaimed Dark Side Of The Moon album, work which they helped to pioneer in terms of stretching the boundaries of what we’d consider music. Hence, I tried giving this piece a sense of rhythm with the reverberating pounding of the clock and the repetition of the laughter, paying homage to a certain Pink Floyd song (points to anyone who can guess which one!). But at the same time, I developed in this piece my own vision, hence the title: A café empty except for one person…and their own relentless thoughts.
